Ward work is chaos
MAKE SENSE OF IT
Phone-first tools for hospitals where doctors do the paperwork, the rosters and the chasing. Proven on the busiest wards in Bengaluru.
BUILT BY A DOCTOR IN INTERNSHIP, TOOL BY TOOL
WORKFLOW TOOLS FOR THE WARD
Made on the wards,
not in a boardroom.
youhavebeenpaged is a set of phone-first tools for the everyday work of running a ward—designed and developed by a doctor who needed it, adding each tool as the work demanded.
It brings the small, repetitive jobs of clinical work into one purpose-built workspace. No spreadsheets. No paper checklists. No hunting through WhatsApp.
HOW WE BEGAN
It started as a call log.
-
1
Who is in casualty today?
Interns rotate through postings every few weeks, so finding the right person meant scrolling a batch group. The first version, built during internship, was a call log that rotates by itself: everyone listed under their current posting, one tap to call.
-
2
Then came the small jobs.
Once the duty board was in daily use, the next chores showed up and each got its own tool, added one at a time: patient numbers that did not belong in personal contacts, the attendance extract due after every posting, pre-anaesthetic worklists, OT lists.
-
3
Each tool came from a real shift.
Vitals scanned from the admission ticket and graphed over time. Lists built on a phone instead of waiting for a computer. Every addition solved something that had been done on paper or WhatsApp.
-
4
The same chaos is everywhere.
Internship is just where we met it first. Any hospital short on staff has doctors doing the same ancillary work. That is where we are taking this next.
WHY HOSPITALS
Where one doctor
does everything.
In small hospitals and nursing homes, doctors do the rostering, the record-keeping, the chasing of investigations and the forwarding of vitals—on top of treating patients.
Hospital information systems are too heavy and too expensive for a thirty-bed nursing home. youhavebeenpaged is built for the opposite situation: it runs in the browser on the phone your staff already carry, and is useful from day one.
| Area | Today | With youhavebeenpaged |
|---|---|---|
| Records | Paper registers and handwritten lists | One place on every phone |
| Who is on duty | Duty details scattered across WhatsApp groups | A duty board that updates itself |
| Investigations | Chased from memory | Worklists that track what is sent and received |
| Vitals | Retyped into messages | Recorded once, graphed, and copied in one tap |
ONE APP, EVERY WARD JOB
Less admin.
More doctoring.
01 / DUTY BOARD
Find the right doctor, right now.
A call log that rotates itself. Everyone who cycles through postings is listed under their current unit, so whoever is covering is one tap away.
- Rotates automatically Postings update as the schedule moves forward, so the board always shows who is where.
- Set your own unit and location Update both from your profile page, so colleagues know exactly where to find you.
- Call in one tap Filter by live duty status and department, then reach the right person directly.
02 / CALL LOG
Keep patient numbers out of your contacts.
A place for the numbers you need for follow-up but do not want mixed in with family and friends.
- Log a call quickly Record the important details without interrupting the pace of a busy shift.
- Only valid numbers get saved Indian phone numbers have ten digits, so the log will not accept anything shorter.
- Private by default Your call log stays locally on your device.
03 / ATTENDANCE
The attendance extract, done for you.
At the end of every posting, each intern submits an attendance extract to their department. It used to be rebuilt by hand. Now it is generated and exported as a PDF.
- Log your attendance stats Organise and edit your days worked, and leaves from your phone.
- Export a clean extract Generate the PDF whenever your department or college asks for it.
04 / PAE TRACKER
Your pre-anaesthetic worklist, one tap away.
Add a patient and get the age-appropriate investigation checklist automatically. Tap once when sent and again when received.
- Add a patient once Investigations update automatically based on age—such as HbA1c and a 2D echo for patients over forty.
- Tap to track Tap once when an investigation is sent and again when it is received. Your worklist stays a tap away.
- Upload the essentials Attach investigations, HIV pages, chest X-rays and ECGs as PDFs, screenshots or photographs.
- Label and add your own fields Add whatever your unit asks for, then generate a PDF of the complete PAE.
05 / VITALS
Scan it. Record it. See the trend.
Scan the admission-ticket QR to fill patient details, record repeated vitals, graph them over time, and copy the latest set in a WhatsApp-ready format.
- Scan instead of typing Use the admission-ticket QR to fill the patient details, with manual entry available when needed.
- Graph any vital Plot readings over time to see which way a patient is heading, not just where they are now.
- Add any field Start with the usual vitals and add urine output or anything else your unit wants.
- Repeat readings stay organised Every value is time-stamped, while Copy Vitals takes only the latest reading from each field.
06 / OT LISTS
Make the OT list from your phone.
Build a printable list per unit, scan each admission ticket to fill patient details, and get a finished document with the unit chief's signature block already in place.
- Build it from your phone Create a unit-wise OT list without waiting for access to a computer.
- Scan each admission ticket Fill patient details quickly and keep the printable list consistent.
- Ready for signature The department line and a signature footer for the unit chief are added automatically. Old local lists clear after 30 days.
PROVEN IN PRACTICE
Not a prototype.
A working part of the ward.
Currently operational in a large tertiary-care hospital in the heart of Bengaluru, where real doctors use it around real shifts.
